Contingency Plan

In this post I discuss our contingency plan, our reasons for creating one and when we had to use it

As with creating any media product, a contingency plan is necessary to consider possible disturbances to our shooting plans. We had to consider factors such as availability of our group, possible weather conditions and being able to travel to our filming locations. Follows is the contingency plan we assembled.

Bad Weather Conditions

We decided that we would film as many shots as we could when we had decent weather conditions, as our time of production ran into the winter months and the weather wasn't as reliable as we would've liked. This way, if we had a day of filming arranged and unforeseen weather conditions prohibited us from filming outdoor shots, we would still have footage to edit and work with until the weather conditions were better.

Availability

It is imperative that Hannah attends all filming sessions as she is present throughout the whole music video. If for some reason Hannah wasn't available to film, we would have to reschedule shooting. There were an arrangement of shots that could be filmed without Josh or myself, but availability depended on what shots we wanted to film in that particular session. As well as Hannah, we needed to ensure another member of the group was there to complete camerawork. However, if the arranged shot was to be of Hannah and Jade or equally Hannah and Josh, either Caitlin or Jazz would have to be there to film. Our contingency plan concerning availability was to plan in advance who was available and what we needed to shoot each session and allow for not everyone to be there every time we were shooting.

Travel

None of our group can drive, so we were limited in where we could travel from school to film. This also limited us time-wise because travelling by train was more time consuming. We have friends and adults who could occasionally transport us to our filming locations, so we needed to create a plan of when and where we were filming each time we had a session, and arrange in advance how we would get there. If we had a longer amount of time we would travel by train if we were filming in Cardiff city centre or Bridgend town centre.

UPDATE: WHAT WENT WRONG?

One of our group members had to move house in December, so it fell right in the middle of the filming process and this meant that her filming availability was pushed back
