In this post I discuss our contingency plan, our reasons for creating one and when we had to use it As with creating any media product, a contingency plan is necessary to consider possible disturbances to our shooting plans. We had to consider factors such as availability of our group, possible weather conditions and being able to travel to our filming locations. Follows is the contingency plan we assembled. Bad Weather Conditions We decided that we would film as many shots as we could when we had decent weather conditions, as our time of production ran into the winter months and the weather wasn't as reliable as we would've liked. In this post I explain and justify our decision to change our featured song In the process of filming and building a narrative for our music video, it became clear that some of our dieas weren't feasible due to certain circumstances; availability, locations and special effects. The song we had originally chosen (W.D.Y.W.F.M By The Neighbourhood) proposed many issues we hadn't orginally considered. The tempo and rhythm of the song requires certain shots and effects that we don't have the means to complete. Altogether it just became clear that our footage and the original song didn't sit well together. The visual and sound didn't belong together and as a group we weren't satisfied with our first edit. While we realised we needed to change our direction, as a group we were really inspired by conventions used in alternative music videos, so we looked into choosing another song in the alternative genre. In this post I have attached our draft storyboard and discussed the shots We want the first part of our music video to establish relationships and personal dynamics between characters, so we chose to use medium two shots of the characters together. We chose the establishing shot of Hannah and Josh in a field to establish their romantic relationship and because the low lighting sets up the mood and atmosphere for the video. The shot of Hannah alone and the over the shoulder shot of her single her out as the protagonist and speaker of the song.

In this post I discuss the roles within the group. Camerawork was primarily carried out by Jasmine Greene and Caitlin Elward, as myself and Hannah Martin and Joshua East all feature in the music video. Editing was a team effort, led by Hannah Martin as we spent time editing our footage on the editing software "Premier" and on IMovie, all putting forward ideas concerning editing and using editing tools. Caitlin took on the role of managing wardrobe, and compiled outfits that were symbolic to the meaning and theme of our music video; she also chose clothing and makeup that added to the "grungy" and alternative feel to our music video. Myself and Jasmine were head of direction, and Hannah is the main protagonist in the feature and there are little shots in which she is not featured, so it made sense and was most practical for us to take on the role of direction. We narowed down our potential song choices to three, and as a group discussed why each one was an option, and came to a final decision. Through choosing our song, narrative ideas began to flow between the group and we've started to piece together a plot and shot ideas. 1. Somebody Else - The 1975 We considered this song for multiple reasons. Firstly, we were sure we wanted our song choice to be in the alternative genre of music. As a group we are all fans of the artist and the existing music video for this song takes advantage of lighting and editing techniques to convey narrative and emotion in a similar way to what we want to achieve in our music video. The lyrics of the song itself convey a narrative containing themes of relationships, mental health and emotional conflict. In this post I discuss a bubble chart of ideas we created as a group and the development of our ideas I used https://bubbl.usb to create a midnmap of ideas that we came up with as a group for our music videos, split up into sections of characters, locations, themes and aesthetic/imagery. We are going to use further mindmaps to condense down our ideas along with gaining inspiration from other music videos to develop our own original ideas. We discussed locations we could use to create atmosphere and narrative, we discussed themes, which are the foundation of our narrative and how we go about creating our music video. We talked about the aesthetic and imagery we would like to create based off of music videos we have already seen; we are inspired by the music videos for "Somebody Else," by The 1975 and "Sweater Weather," by The Neighbourhood. In terms of characters, it is dependant on the narrative we build.

In this post I explore potential song choices for our music video. This is a bubble chart showing our potential song choices. We have decided to go for the indie rock genre because as a group we decided it was our favourite music genre collectively and it gives us a lot of flexibility on where our music video could go and we have a lot of creative freedom. We chose our favourite indie rock songs and compiled 3-4 by four different artists: The 1975, Arctic Monkeys, The Neighbourhood, Nothing But Thieves and Catfish and the Bottlemen. We are still considering the different choices by exploring music videos for each of them and exsisting A Level pieces.
