Filming Log - Day Six

 Locations - Ogmore Beach     

Date - 13th || February || 2018

This was our final filming session; we went to Ogmore beach to shoot the second half of the music video, where we establish the growing relationship between my character and Hannahs. Some issues we faced were weather conditions; it was extremely windy which effected how the shots looked as our hair was covering our faces for many shots. We also wanted to get a shot of myself and Hannah running away from waves and in order to get this shot, Jasmine, who was filming, stood in the ocean to make sure the shot looked authentic and was still. While we were there, we decided that we would like to end the entire music video with a shot of the word "Sorry" written in the sand and being washed away by the ocean; after we had written it in the sand we had to film continuously as we waited for the tide to come in, but did eventually manage to get the shot we wanted. As we were filming, we were able to have someone else film us and take photographs of us. During this filming session, we were under time pressure as the tide was coming in and the conditions were very cold as it is February and we were close to the water. However, as it was late afternoon, the lighting was amazing on camera and this is when we shot what are some of my personal favourite shots in the final product. Throughout the filming process, as a group we have come to learn that it is necessary to plan what shots you want to complete (through a process of storyboarding, discussion and listing) but then once you are out filming on location, when thinking creatively, we come up with many more ideas and shots that we see would look good, and that is how some of the main and in my opinion, best shots in the final feature were created.

The music video for "If They Only Knew" by Alfie Arcuri is themed around LGBT awareness and an individual discovering their sexuality and identity. The theme of friendship is also prevelent throughout the video and that is something we wish to incorperate in our music video. Below you will find my completed music video production, for the song "Sorry" by Nothing But Thieves. Across my two years of Media A Level study, my production, filming, editing and creativity skills have developed massively as discussed in my evaluation, and my ability to participate in teamwork and organisational work has increased to a significantly higher level. I have thouroughly enjoyed the production work I have completed in my final year of my media study, and myself, aswell as my production group, are incredibly proud of the final product we were able to create.

Evaluation Question One

In what ways does your media product use, develop or challenge forms and conventions of real media products? Myself and two other of the four members in our group sat down to discuss the ways in which our product uses, develops and challenges forms and conventions of real media products. We based our discussion off of the research we conducted prior to planning and constructing our product, and considering inspiration we took from these music videos we researched. There were also instances where we challenged the most common conventions of music videos, as discussed in the clip which we filmed on an IPhone 7 camera and embedded into this post.
