Note To The Examiner

Below you will find my completed music video production, for the song "Sorry" by Nothing But Thieves. Also, earlier in my blog you will be able to find my ancillary tasks of a corresponding digipak and magazine advertisement, sorted under the labels "Digipak Production" and "Magazine Advert Production." All of the posts on my blog are sorted into the relevant labels, easily accesible via the sidebar. Across my two years of Media A Level study, my production, filming, editing and creativity skills have developed massively as discussed in my evaluation, and my ability to participate in teamwork and organisational work has increased to a significantly higher level. I have thouroughly enjoyed the production work I have completed in my final year of my media study, and myself, aswell as my production group, are incredibly proud of the final product we were able to create.

Evaluation Question Two

How effective is the combination of your main product and ancillary texts? Across all of my ancillary tasks I have used the same colour scheme, taken from actual screenshots in our music video. The equilibrium of our narrative video is filmed on a beach location, and so I used this beach setting as the background on my magazine advertisement and the front cover of my digipak. The same typography in white is used as the album title on both my magazine advert and my digipak. Through research of existing didgipaks and magazine adverts I have found an array of common conventions across all of them which I then proceeded to include in my own work. This includes using the same typography throughout the texts against the same background. The image I used as the front cover of the digipak, I then used as the magazine advert background image. In terms of the magazine advert, I included a date of release, featured songs on the album, a list of available formats and a social media link, asw

Evaluation Question Three

What have you learnt from your audience feedback? We held a media showcase evening at our sixth form college to showcase our hard work in both the music video and anxillary tasks, but to also ask some important questions and recieve some feedback on the piece. We filmed responses to our questions, edited and compiled them into one video which we then uploaded to Youtube on the same channel as all of our content is uploaded; the music video itself, the draft edits and this feedback short.

In what ways does your media product use, develop or challenge forms and conventions of real media products? Myself and two other of the four members in our group sat down to discuss the ways in which our product uses, develops and challenges forms and conventions of real media products. We based our discussion off of the research we conducted prior to planning and constructing our product, and considering inspiration we took from these music videos we researched. There were also instances where we challenged the most common conventions of music videos, as discussed in the clip which we filmed on an IPhone 7 camera and embedded into this post.

Editing Day Two

Editing Log  As detailed in previous posts, following the switch to using iMovie as our editing software, editing our music video became somewhat of a continual process, and we edited parts of it pretty much everyday up until the deadline; in school and outside of school hours. As shown here, many shots we used a slow motion effect on, as many shots are timed to music when they're in slow motion, and colour correcting was a massive part of the editing process for us. Referring back to some of our original ideas, the LGBT theme we originally planned to incorporate is still the main crutch of the narrative; alongside this we had originally planned to incoorperate rainbow lighting in the video - this proved challenging given our equipment restrictions, and so alternatively we decided to put a black and white effect over the shots in which Hannah is still in an unhappy relationship with Josh, and when she leaves Josh and begins a relationship with my character, those shots are lef
